The Maserati Marak SS was a mid-engined Italian supercar in the 1970s. Only 652 of them were ever made. It was very pretty, and one of the defining characteristics of supercars at that time was the headlights. During the day time they were hidden in the front part of the car (right), but when it got dark, the headlights could be raised up to point ahead (above). This was my motive for assembling this model: to preserve and celebrate this sadly non-surviving design (and to prove that it could be done with LEGO bricks).

Building the Marak was difficult. I finally came up with a way to make the headlights work, and once that was sorted out, the rest of the car just fell into place. I have tried to make it look as much like the old Marak as possible, although sadly you cannot open the bonnet behind the cabin and look at the engine.
